This open plan kitchen, dining and sitting room was a delight for us to work with. With the original Georgian architecture offering high ceilings, hand sculpted coving and working shutters, we allowed the original features to shine. Recognising the need for consistency of design throughout the three separate areas our clients requested a balanced combination of luxury and calm with an injection of edginess and colour. The softer feel of the living space deliberately juxtaposes the monotone pieces and angles of the dining and kitchen area with its geometric dining table, chairs and floor lamp by TOM FAULKNER whilst subtly drawing on similar visual queues between the three areas. Particular detail and attention was taken over the crockery and table dressings. Furnish sourced a hand made ceramic dinner set by DAY CERAMICS that worked perfectly with the colours and the setting in this part of the room. The aesthetics of the cutlery by AMARA and lightweight nature of these items were sought to glide above the heavy weight sculptural presence of the dining table. The contemporary, minimal Italian kitchen provides the perfect and obvious contrast to the existing delicate and ornate architecture, allowing the old to breath and the new to be easily interpreted.
